Creeksea Place, the ancestral home of the Harris family

Creeksea Place, the ancestral home of the Harris family was originally built in 1569. A new wing was added to the building in the early 1900s by the Rome family. In 1947 the house and estate was acquired by the Bertorelli family. Lord Mildmay, Keeper of the Crown Jewels, was one of the Twelve State Elders who signed King Charles I death warrant; he was later arrested at Creeksea Place, then taken to the tower of London.
